Everyone woke up fairly early, had our breakfast, and bid farewell to Mick. I thought it would be a good idea to go for a walk around the village. We walked down a few streets and out onto a beautiful country lane running away from the back of the village. We cut back through the town to a path leading up to an old train track which had been converted into a wide walking/cycling lane. It was nice to get some exercise and to slow down a bit after the hectic travelling we had been doing over the last couple of weeks.
Back at Pete and Lynn’s house, we sat outside and had lunch. Mum remembered that she needed to get some Marmite for Sammy, and I needed to get some for Ross as well, so Lynn took us to the local Costco where we could get some large tubs of the stuff. Game machines weren’t any cheaper, but there were some good bulk deals on practically everything else. After looking around some of the displays, we found the marmite and went back home. I thought it amusing to think the sum total of what we had achieved today was buying Marmite! Ross (my colleague from work) wanted some for Jacqui (his wife) and Sami (Mum’s neighbour from across the road) wanted some as well.
It was good to have a relaxing day. The family came over in the afternoon and we played on the Wii. Seth is really into Star Wars, and was very keen on showing me his Lego Star Wars game. He is very good at it, but does tend to lightsaber his friends as well as his enemies! We had a huge family dinner, then played on the Wii some more. I showed Layla some of the fun things you can do with Maltesers!
After the family trickled off, Pete, Lynn, Mum and I slumped into the sofas to watch the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Pete and Lynn had difficulty following the plot as they hadn't seen most of the preceding films. It is a long film, but we managed to watch it all the way through... well, most of us did!
